Preparing Your House to Sell

Once you’ve made the decision to sell your home, it can be hard to know where to start. Here are a few tips to help you get through staging your home to sell.

1. Contact a Realtor

Your realtor is your best resource! Not only have they gone through this process many times, but they are also certified professionals. Listen to their suggestions and do not be afraid to ask for advice. Your realtor will be able to give your tips and may even have connections to companies that can provide services for you.

I spend time getting to know sellers and recognizing their immediate needs to prepare to sell. My goal is to help you highlight parts of your home that others will love.

2. Clean and Declutter Your Space

Once your home is on the market, things may seem to move pretty fast. Make sure your home is clean and free of clutter, so it is ready to be viewed by future residents.

Try to view your home as someone who has never stepped foot in it before. Do you notice any clutter that needs to disappear? As difficult as it may sound, you will want to make sure your home is ALWAYS clean - sometimes buyers and realtors may drop by with little to no notice.

3. Hide Personal Items

Put personal photos and items away. When viewing new homes, potential buyers want to picture themselves in the house. Although personal items make your house seem like a home to you, they can distract your potential buyers. You might also be protecting your family’s identity while also creating a neutral environment.

4. Curb Appeal

Don’t forget to focus on outdoor aesthetics. A powerful first impression can affect the way a buyer feels about the rest of the home. Make sure the outside of your home is as welcome and inviting as the inside. A few ways to boost curb appeal include:

  • Take care of your lawn and garden

  • Sweep and power wash your porch, patio, and driveway

  • Clean off debris and decorate your front door

When you are preparing to sell your home, remember that you are never alone. I am one of your strongest resources, and I can help take the stress out of the process. Send me a message, and I will help you get started.
